There are many fantastic tourist attractions in LA but if you fancy something a little different and want to spend some time with nature head to the Mount Railway Trail. Situated near Altadena LA, the Mount Lowe Railway trail has something for all ages and abilities.
Thaddeus Lowe introduced the trail and railway as part of an ambitious mountain resorts that overlooked the San Gabriel Mountains .
Take a Hike
The Mount Lowe Trail is a 9.8 mile loop that is popular with local hikers in Altadena. Starting from Mount Lowe Road You can enjoy a 410 meter incline until you reach The Apline Resort at the summit. If you need to take a breather you can take a break at 0.35 miles when you reach Mueller Tunnel at the entrance of the steep San Gabriel Peak.
Slow your Pace
If you would like to spend your time at a more leisurely pace then you do not have to hike or bike around the toughest part of the trail. You can take a brisk walk to take your time to picnic, take photographs of the local wildlife and admire the abundance of flora on offer.
